Chubu withdraws Hamaoka 3 and 4 applications after seismic-data inquiry

Chubu Electric Power's board decided on September 14, 2026 to withdraw the new-regulatory-standards applications for Hamaoka units 3 and 4 (1,100 MW and 1,137 MW) after an outside investigation committee reported on how the plant's design basis ground motion was developed. Chairman Satoru Katsuno and President Kingo Hayashi step down September 30; director Minoru Yasui becomes president October 1. The committee says it does not find the acts appropriate but also rejects reducing them to falsification or data fraud.
