Käppeli Logistik orders its first Tesla Semi at IAA, 2027 delivery planned

Käppeli Logistik AG, a Swiss haulage company, said on September 15, 2026 that it placed the official order for its first Tesla Semi at IAA Transportation in Hannover, at its first appointment at the show, that contract signing is the next step, and that delivery of its vehicle is planned for 2027. The post, in German on the news feed of the company's website, traces the order to a 2019 visit to Tesla's Fremont, California plant by a person it tags only by Instagram handle, who placed a pre-order there; Käppeli calls the Hannover order the next decisive step seven years on. Torque News, which surfaced the post on September 17, identifies that person as employee Mike Ritter.

Käppeli says the fully electric tractor is to have around 1,020 PS (about 750 kW) and a range of up to 550 kilometres, which it says also opens interesting prospects for longer transport routes, and that it was waiting for the European version's technical data, expected later on September 15, with the tractor's curb weight of particular interest because, in daily transport operation, it has a decisive influence on possible payload and thereby on economics. Torque News reports that Tesla Semi program director Dan Priestley presented the figures to European fleet operators on the show floor. Tesla Europe had posted figures on X on September 11: up to 550 km of range at 40 t fully loaded, 1 kWh/km energy consumption, a Megacharger at up to 800 kW recovering about 60% of range in 30 minutes, ePTO up to 25 kW, a 40 t gross combination weight and a 9,100 kg curb weight. The post links Tesla's German Semi page and gives no price or delivery date. Electrek reported on September 11 that Tesla still had not given European pricing or an on-sale date, and that the US Long Range Semi is rated at 500 miles (805 km) on an 822 kWh battery.

Torque News calls the order Europe's first for a Tesla Semi, says Käppeli operates more than 100 trucks, and reports an exact delivery date and the full Tesla Semi price as still unannounced as of the Hannover show; Käppeli's own post gives neither a fleet size nor a price. The largest Tesla Semi deployment to date, on Einride's own description, is the 500 trucks the Swedish operator is phasing in over 24 months starting September 2026 on US corridors (Einride to deploy 500 Tesla Semis, tripling its electric truck fleet).
