Tesla to wind down Cybertruck production at Giga Texas around mid-2027
Tesla will stop building the Cybertruck at Gigafactory Texas around mid-2027, chief executive Elon Musk said in a post on X early on November 6, 2026. Tesla "will be winding down production of the Cybertruck at Gigafactory Texas," he wrote, "to make room for increased Cybercab production." That one sentence is the whole announcement: it gives no word on how long Tesla will keep selling trucks or on parts and service for the ones already on the road.
The Cybercab already has a line of its own. Tesla's Q3 2026 update of October 21 lists more than 125,000 Cybertrucks a year of installed capacity in Texas and, one row down, a Texas Cybercab line at the same more-than-125,000, both marked "Production." The trucks are harder to find in the sales figures: Tesla folds them into an "Other models" row, which delivered 8,295 vehicles in Q3 2026, down from 15,933 in Q3 2025 (the quarter's full numbers are in our Q3 deliveries brief).
The "~10% of plan" in Electrek's headline is Electrek's estimate, not a Tesla figure. Electrek reckons 7,000 to 8,000 of those Q3 Other models deliveries were Cybertrucks, with Model S and Model X production over since April, for a pace of about 30,000 trucks a year. It measures that against the 250,000 units a year it says Tesla planned the line for, which by its own arithmetic is "about 12% of plan" (its headline rounds to a tenth), and against the more than 125,000 units of installed capacity, roughly a quarter.
The wind-down comes two months after Tesla taught the truck a new trick for homeowners: on September 10, 2026, Tesla's Cybertruck account said the truck could now power a house together with a Powerwall 3, as covered in Tesla says Cybertruck Powershare now backs up homes with a Powerwall 3.
