  • Australia commissioned more grid battery capacity in H1 2026 than in 2025

The Clean Energy Council's investment report for January to June 2026, released October 26, counts nine utility-scale batteries totalling 2,295 MW and 7,132 MWh commissioned in Australia, more than the 1,972 MW and 5,124 MWh of all of 2025, and 12 mostly solar generation projects of 2,623 MW reaching financial close. Storage reaching financial close, 6.5 GWh, came in below the first half of 2025, and the $74/MWh June-quarter wholesale price the CEC cites is AEMO's NEM average.
